JT VS TKR MATCH PREDICTION & ANALYSIS

With sixth straight win in the competition, Trinbago Knight Riders finally reserved a spot in the semi-final of the Caribbean Premier League 2020. It became the first team to do so in the edition with St Lucia Zouks likely to join them next.

As we move back to Tarouba to play remainder of the matches, Jamaica Tallawahs, who is right behind St Lucia Zouks on the ladder, would want to get some wins under its belt before the business end of the tournament. Tallawahs’ next encounter isn’t going to be easy, though. They are set to meet Trinbago Knight Riders, the team that has been unbeaten in the tournament. The match between the two sides is to be played at Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Tarouba, Trinidad, on 1st September 2020.

TEAM PREVIEWS

JAMAICA TALLAWAHS
With a fantastic win over St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, Jamaica Tallawahs bounced back into contention for the semi-final spot.  Match Tips The win pushed them to the third spot on the points table However, a win for Guyana yesterday pushed Tallawahs back to the fourth position and they will be looking to strengthen claw back to the third spot with wins in their next few games. In the tournament so far, the Tallawahs have won three games out of six and have a net run-rate of 0.015.

Before the tournament started, the Tallawahs looked a bit too over-reliant on Andre Russell. However, with Russell injured, the Tallawahs will have no option but to rely on their other players to do the join. Glenn Phillips played that role perfectly in the previous match as the Tallawahs thrashed St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

Batting first on a slow surface, the Tallawahs got off to a sedate start as Phillips took time to get going in the powerplay. Once set, however, he capitalized and smashed the Patriots’ bowlers all around the park. Phillips single-handedly kept the Tallawahs’ innings afloat as none of their other batsmen found feet on a difficult surface. Phillps remained unbeaten on 79 at the end of the innings.

While Phillips contributed well, it were the Tallawahs’ bowlers who won them the match. Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Sandeep Lamicchane who had been brilliant in the tournament prior to this match as well rocked the Patriots’ wagon here too. Fidel Edwards, although expensive, looked threatening in the early overs and picked up a couple of wickets as Mujeeb maintained pressure at the other end. Coming into bowl in the middle overs, Carlos Brathwaite proved to be their trump card as picked up three important wickets and returned with the figures of 3.4-1-11-3.

While the shoes of Andre Russell are almost impossible to fill, Jamaica Tallawahs did well in his absence. Having said that, with difficult matches to come in the near future, it is not going to be easy for the Tallawahs. They have a decent bowling attack and if they can find someone who can smack the ball as well as Rusell at the end of the innings, they’ll certainly in with the chance.
TRINBAGO KNIGHT RIDERS
Trinbago Knight Riders’ last win was all about Kieron Pollard. Coming in when a win looked almost impossible, Kieron Pollard rolled back the clock to do the impossible. Barbados Tridents were left stunned in an evening that seemingly belonged to them. With that win, Trinbago Knight Riders continued to maintain their supremacy at the points table with six wins in as many matches.

Kieron Pollard came in to bat when the Knight Riders needed 70 off 5 overs. Surprisingly, he then defended Rashid Khan for an over to make it 66 runs off 24 deliveries. The win looked impossible, but not for Kieron Pollard. Starting by hitting four sixes off Hayden Walsh, Kieron Pollard completed his fifty off just 22 deliveries. He brought Knight Riders to the brink of a victory before he succumbed to pressure and tried to take a non-existent second run to retain the strike. After Pollard was dismissed, Khary Pierre completed the win for the Trinbago Knight Riders with a fantastic cameo.

Earlier with the ball, the Knight Riders weren’t as good as they’ve been in the tournament so far. Bowling on a difficult surface to bat on, the Knight Riders struggled to take wickets as the Tridents moved into a position to dictate terms. Although Akeal Hosein picked up two important wickets, he was a tad expensive. With Dwayne Bravo and Sunil Narine not in the playing eleven, the Knight Riders seemed to struggle in the death overs as the Tridents scored at a pretty brisk pace in the last five.

While the Knight Riders without their regular players do not look as strong, they certainly still have an immaculate balance. Their batting seems to be doing pretty well and they have a good variety in their bowling lineup. Cricket Betting Tips They’ll be even stronger if Narine and Bravo join them back for the upcoming contest. Even without them though, they are a terrific unit, and will not be an easy side to deal with.

JT VS TKR TOSS PREDICTION

The surface at Tarouba is known to help spinners, who are more likely to have an impact in the second innings. Although it is expected to rain on the day and the team batting second will have an advantage if it does, the advantage of batting first will be a lot more. Therefore, we expect the captain winning the toss to bat first.

PITCH AND CONDITIONS

Before we moved to Tarouba for the second leg of the competition, the surface at Tarouba was getting slower and lower with every passing match. The break would have done a world of good to the surface and we expect it to be a better one for the batsmen. Being a day game, the dew is not going to have any effect and batting second will still be challenging. It is expected to rain on the match-day and the teams would have that under consideration. The team batting first would want to put a total of at least 155 runs on the board.

JT VS TKR BETTING TIPS

The game holds massive importance for the Tallawahs, but not so much for the Knight Riders. Having said that, both sides are likely to strive hard for a win in this upcoming encounter. Jamaica Tallawahs have the momentum, but with Andre Russell not available, they are going to find it difficult to take on in-form Knight Riders. Knight Riders, too, are likely to rest a couple of their players to keep them fresh. We expected to be an exciting game, which will be fought hard. Having momentum and with a better on-paper team, the Knight Riders are better placed to emerge on top in the upcoming contest.
