Somerset fell 9 runs short of their target in the previous match against Northamptonshire. It was a poor batting performance from a team that we know can do better. Steven Davies and Tom Abell both failed to get a decent score under their belt while James Hildreth got a start and then threw it away.
An attacking 41 from Roelof van der Merwe down the order made the scorecard look a lot closer than the match actually was.

Chris Cooke was the lone man fighting for Glamorgan in their previous match against the Birmingham Bears. He scored 72 from 56 deliveries and ensured that Glamorgan would finish with something to bowl at. In the end, 140 was never going to be enough but his effort was admirable one the less.
We have some serious doubts about the Glamorgan batting lineup and worry about them going into a slugfest against Somerset. Matches at Taunton are usually high-scoring and Glamorgan may not be able to compete.
They have Chris Cooke, an excellent batsman, and Andrew Balbirnie, the Irish skipper, but the rest of the batting is pretty weak. The likes of Billy Root, Daniel Douthwaite, and Kiran Carlson are talented but they cannot be expected to win too many matches on their own.
The bowling is in better shape thanks to Timm van der Gugten, Merchant de Lange, Prem Sisodiya, and Andrew Salter in the lineup.
